Inspiration

What inspired your interest in massage?

Jenna Kahler LMT
I grew up in a family where natural wellness and alternative health were very much supported as my Father is a Naturopathic Physician. I always knew that I wanted to incorporate wellness into my career in addition to my lifestyle. In 2007, I was living in Jackson Hole working as a spa director at the beautiful Body Sage Spa when I decided that it was time to embark on my quest for a career in wellness. I moved back to my hometown of Boulder Colorado and attended the Denver School of Massage Therapy. I’d like to share a few quotes that have been an inspiration to me in my career as well as my everyday life:

Natural forces within us are the true healers of disease.
–Hippocrates

We are that which we repeatedly do. Excellence, therefore, is not an act but a habit.
-Aristotle

Healing is a matter of time, but it is sometimes also a matter of opportunity.

-Hippocrates

Human beings can alter their lives by altering their attitudes.

When I was a teenager, my mom told me about a dream she had.  This dream and my mom are the main inspirations that has touched  my life the most.  In her dream, an angel came to her and told her that she had to make sure to keep me safe. I had a bigger purpose in life and that my mom was to see that nothing happened to me that would endanger that purpose.  I believe that my purpose is to help heal and relieve pain of my clients.  My mom had severe fibromyalgia that was debilitating.  I couldn't get rid of her pain but i could, at times, help relieve some of it.  She passed away completely unexpected on March 22, 2009.  She was my best friend and inspiration and it's because of her that I am a massage therapist and have been for ten years now.  I love my job and look forward everyday to helping my clients.

The great pleasure in life is doing what people say you cannot do.

In 1996 my Dad broke the news to us that he had cancer. He said that they weren’t able to do any of the Chemo or radiation treatments and so we looked at alternative treatments. Through massive changes in his lifestyle, he became a healthier and happier person and was able to fight off the cancer. This helped me understand the importance of investing in our own health today, because it’s hard to get your health back. I decided that I wanted that influence, not only in my own life but in my career as well. In 2003 I attended The Central Illinois School of Massage Therapy and have been devoted to helping others invest in their health also!
